BizzyCar’s Recall Report shows surge in recalls in Q1
Auto recalls rose sharply in the first quarter of 2024, according to the inaugural Recall Report compiled by customer retention platform BizzyCar.
Using data from the Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, BizzyCar found there were 105 recalls issued in Q1, affecting some 9.7 million vehicles.
The company said the recalls pointed out “significant concerns for driver safety and consumer protection,” which “underscores the magnitude of the issue and emphasizes the potential safety risks” for car owners.
The report showed Tesla as the brand most affected by the recent surge with three recalls accounting for more than 2.4 million vehicles, mostly for electrical system issues. Ford had the most recalls with 17, affecting 2.2 million vehicles, followed by Chrysler with 15 recalls affecting more than 960,000 units.
BizzyCar said it plans to release its Recall Report quarterly, covering recalls by manufacturer, vehicles most affected, safety and compliance, critical component features, noteworthy recent recalls, historical context and safety advisories.
The company said the report provides important information for dealers, illustrating the opportunity to increase service revenue and customer loyalty by effectively managing recall campaigns.
For consumers, BizzyCar said, the report serves as a resource for staying informed about potential safety risks associated with their vehicles.
“More than 100,000 vehicles are recalled a day in this country, with OEMs required by law to replace 100% of them,” BizzyCar founder Ryan Maher said. “As a dealer myself I realized if I could find and schedule even a fraction of those recalls, not only would my profits increase exponentially, but because customers had to visit my dealership for the repair, my loyalty numbers would skyrocket.
“I initially looked for a solution in the market to help me find and bring in those profitable recall jobs, and when I couldn’t find one I built BizzyCar to solve my own pain point.”
