Rick Case Automotive Group president and CEO Rita Case joined company staff members as volunteers in a program to provide new shoes for children at the Rick & Rita Case Boys & Girls Club of Broward County in Davie, Fla.

Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-Fla.) and his family were also among the volunteers who helped more than 150 Boys & Girls Club members select and get fitted for new, brand-name athletic shoes donated by Soles4Souls 4EveryKid, a program founded in Broward County by Rita Case.

“In addition to building good character and helping members achieve academic success, the Boys & Girls Clubs promote a healthy lifestyle, which includes athletic involvement,” Case said. “Quality athletic shoes are important for children to run, play and shoot hoops alongside their peers while at the club, the park, the playground, at school and in their neighborhoods.”

Soles4Souls partners with schools and organizations across the country to donate new athletic shoes to children experiencing homelessness and in underserved populations.

“As one of the biggest sneakerheads in Congress, I was so happy to participate in this shoe drive with Rita and Soles4Souls,” Moskowitz said. “I believe every kid deserves a bright future and a shoe that fits.”

Rick Case Automotive said Rita Case has raised nearly $500,000 for 4EveryKid Broward since becoming its founding sponsor and chief fundraiser in 2022, with some 7,000 children receiving new shoes in through the program in partnership with the Homeless Education Assistance Resource Team.

“We continue to be amazed by the generosity of the people of South Florida and how they show up in such a big way,” Soles4Souls president and CEO Buddy Teaster said. “The Boys & Girls Club of Broward County and Rita Case are incredible partners and we’re looking forward to being able to serve alongside them again soon.”

Mercedes-Benz USA delivers a ‘Week of Caring’

More than 250 Mercedes-Benz USA employee volunteers participated in “giveback” activities as MBUSA hosted a “Week of Caring” with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta to support young patients and families.

The Week of Caring served as the kickoff event to celebrate MBUSA’s recently announced multi-year partnership with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, to support its Arthur M. Blank Hospital.

The partnership is part of MBUSA’s national corporate social responsibility initiative, Driving Your Future, which aims to empower the next generation and make a lasting and meaningful impact in communities in need.

Employee volunteers made no-sew blankets for patients and hospital visitors, crafted customized empowerment bracelets and delivered hand-written letters for patients and families in need of encouragement. They ended the week at Scottish Rite Hospital, serving breakfast to patients and their families and hosting a love-themed patient party to spread positivity and excitement.

“At Mercedes-Benz USA, we believe in the power of compassion and community to make a difference,” president and CEO Dimitris Psillakis said in a news release. “Through our dedicated multi-year commitment with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, we are committed to supporting the invaluable services they provide to ensure children’s well-being in Georgia and beyond – and our Week of Caring initiative is a testament to that promise.”
