Hummer Dealer Holds Shotgun Send-Off for Brand
CHESTERFIELD, Mo. — A Missouri Hummer dealership that turned some heads in August with its "Guns and Hummers" offering is at it again, this time lining up in "shotgun" formation to make a final play on what could be the last of new models from the brand.
Lynch Hummer, a dealer in the St. Louis suburbs, is giving each customer who buys a new Hummer a Browning Citori White Lightning shotgun, which retails for $2,000.
Officials emphasize that before receiving their shotguns, buyers will be held to the same legal requirements by which any gun purchaser would have to abide.
"There is now real reason to believe that the current inventory on hand at dealers may be the last of the new Hummers, we wanted to send them off with something memorable," said dealer Jim Lynch. "Browning and Hummer are prestigious brands and American Icons. Bringing them together is a natural fit."
Late last summer, Lynch Hummer supplemented its vehicle offering with Adventure Shooting Sports, adding firearms to its product line.
And apparently, it has taken off quite well.
"Hummer inventory got so low we had to add another product to make up for lost sales," explained Lynch, who has been a Hummer dealer since 1994. "The guns have been a huge hit with our Hummer customers and now we are taking the ‘Guns and Hummers' concept one step further."
He added: "My hope is that someone will come in and rescue the brand. The right buyer with the right vision could do very well. It will be a real shame if the brand doesn't survive."
